One of those potholes I stepped in that I'm not proud of, but yeah, learned a lot. I fell into a long-distance relationship with someone who was in a long-term relationship with someone else. He became ill and we fell out of contact. I witnessed his demise, in the public care of his long-term beloved, on Facebook.

Lyrics

Did you kiss her like you kissed me
Do you look at her the way you looked at me
The way you looked at me

I wish you happiness
I hope that you get better
I’m so sorry for your disease
But if you don’t make it
Don’t know if I’ll come but
If I even come I’ll be
The Girl behind the trees

Pressed up against your refrigerator door
How you wanted me
We both wanted so much more
You looked me in the eyes and said
Your love for her was dead and now you’re
Calling her your life saver you’re
Calling her your life saver but
Your life’s not saved yet - and

I wish you happiness
I hope that you get better
I’m so sorry for your disease
But if you don’t make it
Don’t know if I’ll come but
If I even come I’ll be
The Girl behind the trees

I loved you in the most unhealthy way
I thought you felt it too but
You can never say it now no
You can never say it now no
You will never say
And I wish you happiness
I hope that you get better and
I’m so sorry

But if you don’t make it
Don’t know if I’ll come but
If I even come I’ll be
The girl behind the trees
The girls behind the trees

I’ll be standing in the shadows as I
watch the limousines go by and
Nobody will see me I will
Leave before they see me cry
Bye Bye now
Bye Bye my love
Good bye
